‘See Me Smile’

17th November 2014

Raising a Smile for SMS

On the 17th November, I am looking to have a one day event where everyone can join in, so I am giving you all enough notice to help participate in this, and share an inform as many friend on Facebook as you can. So what will be the event.

As many of you may know, Most people with SMS (Smith Magenis Synndrome )  have a deletion of genetic material from a specific region of chromosome 17. Although this region contains multiple genes, researchers believe that the loss of one particular gene, RAI1, in each cell is responsible for most of the characteristic features of this condition. OK so, we have two real valid numbers, so using the number 17 (which will mark the day, and the number from RA11, we will use for the month, this being November) Hence the day will be 17th November.

We have seen so many variations of support for various charities and foundations, the most recent being the ice bucket challenge, which was a success in itself and had a real fun aspect to it!

So what do we all need to do. SMS - 'See Me Smile' day, will be an event, where everyone can send in their selfies, and pictures of you laughing and smiling, with your friends, a group of people, with your family etc., anything, as long as we have you SMILING and laughing.

How can you can help with your smile. With every smile posted and even bigger smile will be created by the friends and families supported by the Smith Magenis Foundation, and all I ask is to donate £1.00 for every smile. It’s doesn’t sound a lot, but if all my friend on facebook were able to donate £1.00, we would raise over £1,300.

By clicking on the link below, will direct you to SMS Donation page.

So with your help, and continued support, lets all aim to have fun on the 17th November, and post as many pictures (and videos) to help raise awareness for SMS
